Most vitamin C serums rely on high concentrations of pure L-ascorbic acid, which is effective but notoriously unstable and frequently irritating. This one takes a different approach: instead of plain water as its base, it uses 40% acerola fruit water — the Barbados cherry, which is naturally one of the most vitamin C-dense fruits in existence. The result is a serum that delivers meaningful brightening and antioxidant protection without the sting, the oxidation risk, or the sensitivity that traditional vitamin C serums can cause. The texture is lightweight and fast-absorbing, comfortable under moisturiser and SPF, and suitable for daily morning use.

The formula's most distinctive feature is what Eqqualberry calls its 3-Step Melanin Control System — a layered brightening approach that intercepts dark spots at three different points in the pigmentation process simultaneously. Arbutin targets spots before they form by inhibiting the enzyme that triggers melanin production. Niacinamide intercepts spots as they're emerging by blocking melanin from travelling to the skin's surface. And the acerola complex, glutathione, and ferulic acid work together on existing visible pigmentation to fade what's already there. Run alongside this is a genuinely substantial hydration and barrier complex; five ceramide types delivered via proprietary MLV (Multi-Layer Vesicle) technology, eight forms of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and squalane — which is unusually comprehensive for a serum primarily positioned as a brightening product.
